Standing in the back of the group is a
half-human half-moon elf, obvious from his silver grey hair, amber
eyes, and fair skin tinted with blue highlights. He's tall for a
half-elf, topping six feet, very muscular and very lean. He's garbed
in a bland, grey cloak and boots over an incredibly fine suit of chain
armour. A long sword and scabbard swings easily from his left hip, and
a short sword and scabbard hang on the right. A long bow and quiver of
arrows hang over his back. "Greetings. I am Alranac of
Ardeep." After this terse speech, Alranac says no more save to
nod in greeting to his fellow officers.
Alranac retired from service due to severe wounds he received during a battle in Chapter 1, Turn 16.
Alranac was played by Eric Boyd.
"Well Met, I am Elvanshala of
Highforest, Priestess of Eilistraee, the Dark Maiden." Before you
stands a human woman, although she has something about her that makes
her seem slightly elven. She is clad in green and brown clothes, and
is wearing no armour. She has long black hair, and her skin is a light
tan. At her side is a glowing silver sabre, and on her back is a long
bow and a quiver. She appears very sure of herself, graceful and not
unattractive, although she does not look particularly strong. Around
her neck hangs a holy symbol; a moon with a sword in front of it, and
wispy strands in the background.
Elvanshala retired from the campaign in Chapter 1, Turn 38 for personal reasons.
Elvanshala was played by Shadowdancer.
"Fair morn," comments a tenored
voice in amused greeting. The voice is rich with the light colours of
elven ancestry, and continues in the understood common
tongue. "My name is Akani'ir Piercen," dipping his head in
salute, "late of Evereska. It is a pleasure to join your
company." Hands resting comfortably upon a sash, Akani'ir smiles
in stride and silences for the next to step forward. His
shoulder-length brown hair pulled tight into a pony tail, this gold
elf appears every bit the fit and fair creature. Brown eyes sparkle
atop his five-and-a-half foot frame; a body structure developed and
proportionate beneath various green masts and leather hosiery. A
sleeveless, knee-length overlay of forest green and white trim covers
his form, belted at the waist with a white sash. Sleeves from a light
green tunic extend past the overlay's borders and disappear into
comfortable leather gloves. A hooded travelling cloak, also hued in
forest green, rests easily across the gold elf's shoulders. A slender,
curved blade hangs freely in its scabbard from his left hip, and a
small blade's pommel protrudes from the right. A leather side satchel
hangs at his right side, strapped comfortably across his chest above
the overlay. Finally, a pair of calf-length boots form easily around
the elf's calves and feet. Curiously, the calm image of this elf is
somewhat upset by the visage of two sleek black cats, maws locked
tightly upon the other, meeting in careful detail at the gold elf's
neck below his left ear. The panthers' bodies quietly disappear across
his chest and into the folds of his apparel. The whole is thoroughly
elven in design -- unremarkable but unmistakable. His articles and
appearance are given respectable attention; his demeanour and carriage
conservative. A handsome elf to be certain, Akani'ir's grinning eyes
cast him to be a composed, if somewhat quirkish, fellow.
Akani'ir is missing, presumed dead.
Akani'ir was played by Pete Danielsen.
He is roughly 5'9'' medium build man with
sallow skin, dark hair (which he shaves as often as he is able), and
very seldom possesses a beard, but at times sports a bit of growth
from hard travelling. His features appear softly narrow, some parts
laced with scarring. The permanent feature which usually distinguishes
him are his eyes: he has dark violet eyes, which is rare considering
his eastern origins, and they are kohled black in the Mulhorandi
fashion.
Helix is normally seen wearing dark velvety clothing, sometimes loose and slashed, revealing a glint of fine chain beneath when adventuring, or dark leathers and wools to stay warm in the northern climates (which he is visibly shaking in such northern drafts). Normally, he goes without cloak unless expecting rain or cold winds, otherwise he wears a slashed beret or sun hat whenever out. He is usually armed with a longsword and dagger or knife. On his back, a short straight blade without quillons (ninja-to the knowledgable) is strapped to his back, and has an odd wood and brass starwheel tucked into his red sash. Along with this, he wears a pouch and gaudy jewellery. He speaks with an accent, Thayvian to be exact, rolling "r's" and pronouncing diphthongs differently, ("x's" as "h's" and "z's" as "th"), and usually has a scowl on his face.
He was born roughly 23 winters ago in Bezantur, Thay. His father was a prominent rising autharch who angered a Red Wizard with legislating a certain law (the wizard in question shall not be mentioned, nor the law). By this virtue of his father being an autharch, "Helix" is by birth titled "Daeron" (noble-born). After the annihilation of his family by the Assassins for angering this wizard, in the Year of the Wave, he changed his name to Helix and fled for his life to the west, working in the Pirate Isles. When he decided to continue his own course, he was captured by Zhentarim slave-traders. Upon his escape and subsequent raids upon Zhentarim slave-traders since has earned him his infamy among the Black Network.
He adventured with the mage Chan of Legermain; Ingo, a "mad" elven priest; a half-drow tracker named Eram (whom he hated); and a Cormyte paladin named Corum. Numerous adventures took them to Anauroch, Kara-Tur, the Rock of Bral, and the Demiplane of Dread (which may have been a serious nightmare which haunts him to this day). What may have all set this in motion has been the campaigns for Hill's Edge, which was endorsed by the Legermain Household. Chan was elected, with Helix placed in control of an informal "police-force." 2 battles were fought with the Zhentarim over control of this town; the first forced a retreat and began a quest to recover an artefact. The second battle, with the help of this unnamed artefact, gave them victory. Once Chan decided not to run for a second term, Aziz took his place in elections, leaving Helix free to pursue other adventuring opportunities.
One led to Myth Drannor, which gave the notion to never tangle with tanar'ri or dragons (he lets on about shooting a sleeping dragon in the tail and the folly of it, but has claimed to have nearly killed one with a shot between the eyes before, finished off by his companions' efforts).
After this, he hired a force to fight at the Shining Falls against hordes of Hellgate Keep, the same type of light cavalry hired for the Cyricist Mission. Upon hearing the accusations of the Black Thunder Company of his near decimation of his own units, Helix tells it differently (of course). He led a charge, hoping to get off a volley of arrows in a scrub valley, but was cut off from retreat from behind by an allied force. He admits to losing nearly half of the troops, but he pledges never to allow such fog of war to happen again to any men he hires.
He tells brief tales of wenching in numerous towns and drunken debauchery, false priesthood and charlatans, and some myths of lost treasures of his homeland in the days before Mulhorand occupied the Priador. Whether any of these tales are true is of conjecture, and Helix takes them with a grain of salt.
Other than that, he is the twisted Thayvian who manages to slip capture, and says little besides.
Helix was presumed killed in the assault on the temple in Chapter 1, Turn 64.
Helix was played by James.
Pieron Litnick stands about six feet tall and
looks to be about 24 years old. He is relatively quick and slightly
more muscled than your average townsman. Shoulder length jet black
hair is tied in a ponytail with a silver cord. His seldom polished,
silver chased boots the silver ring on his left hand, and the
tarnished rectangular medallion he wears on a slender thong about his
neck stand out in contrast with the black leather armor he wears about
his torso. His tanned, weathered face and farmland drawl give
evidence to his humble begginings as do his abilities to rope, ride,
and track. On his belt he wears a shortsword and coil of rope as well
as a couple of pouches.
Pieron started his life on a small farm two days ride from any town. The simple life, however, did not agree with him so at the age of 16 he left his home to see the world. As he will tell you over a pony keg of ale his early adventures took him all over Cormyr, Sembia, and the Dalelands. Where he met and traveled with a couple of adventuring bands. It was with the death of a friend, a strange small being similiar to a halfling but calling himself a Kender, that much in Pieron died as well. After the death of his friend he traveled far and wide taking any dangerous job he could find asking no questions as long as he was paid for his services. After several years with many near death experiences, and with the help of a kind druidess Pieron eventually reclaimed some of his former self.
These days Pieron still lives by a proffessional code of completing any job he has agreed to undertake by whatever means neccessary though now he looks for ways that will harm fewer bystanders and leave less blood on his already stained hands.
Pieron was played by Chad Steinhausser
Bilk has pointed ears and stands taller than any elf that
you have seen before. The only thing that gives him away is the
beginning growths of a moustache and beard that prove that he is a
half-elf. He looks young, perhaps in his early twenties, until you see
his eyes. His eyes are as grey as a druid's soul and look as if they
have seen horrors that one would shatter the mind of a weaker man. His
black hair flows down his neck and is gathered together by a black
leather thong to keep it from flying freely with the winds. A single
gold earring dangles from his left ear lobe. As your eyes run down his
body, you can tell that he is no stranger to hard labor. His body,
while not heavy muscled, is sharply cut and well-defined. He wears a
black leather shirt cut with a v-neck which is tied loosely with a
black cord. The black shirt is tucked into a pair of tight-fitting
black leather pants which are snugly cinched around his waist. Tight
black leather gloves encase his hands in protection from the elements
as well as other hazardous items. The pants in turn are tucked into
knee-high black riding boots. Completing his wardrobe is a old worn
grey travelling cloak with hood, the cloak has several dark stains
permeating it as well as several poor stitching jobs.
As he turns you can see that on his back he carries a black leather backpack that seems filled to its capacity. Additionally as he moves, his cloak opens enough to see belted at his waist a sword-like weapon that only few can call by name (cutlass) a single poniard, a two large belt pouches.
Recently he has acquired a black wheelock from some marauding mercenaries which he keeps holstered on his belt; though those who have fought near Bilk know that he has been seen brandishing a brown-hilted wheelock in the past before he gained the possession of the black one. Where he keeps the brown one, if he still has it, remains to be discovered.
It has been remarked throughout the Division of the 'Snakes that Bilk bears a hideous scar over both his legs and his stomach but no one has found the courage to ask Bilk about him.
History: Bilk has been very tight-lipped about his past. From Bilk's oaths and mannerisms and the little that he has said, it is clear that Bilk used to be aboard a ship. One would wonder if he was a privateer or a pirate, it is unclear which he actually was. Bilk seems to follows orders quickly and decidedly as well as to give orders expecting them to be followed in the same manner. Some have wondered what rank Bilk held onboard, clearly it was one of importance. The big mystery is why he is now on shore when it is clear that he was born to be at sea. At nights he has been seen standing, looking in the direction of the sea, for hours on end before silently moving to his tent a slight slump to his shoulders.
Bilk was played by Alex Corbin.
Raven is a male elf, 56" tall with black
hair and brown eyes. He is slender and nimble. Raven looks like a elf
on the out-side but acts more like a human on the in-side. Raven
walks, talks and acts a lot like a human does.
Raven is wrapped in his black cloak most of the time. It usually lies open revealing a short sword by his left side and a strange wheel lock pistol tucked to the right, this is not usually seen by strangers and passers by as Raven does well to hide it. He carries a Short bow on his back carries most of his possessions in a large sack. Some people are quite shocked about how little Raven carries with him. Raven wears no jewellery except for a elegantly plain silver ring on his right hand.
Background: Raven was brought up on the streets of Waterdeep. He stole to stay alive but as he became older he got better and started to get quite well off. He started to rent an apartment rather than sleeping on the streets and began to dress in clean clothes. He was well known in the seedier taverns of Waterdeep, bar keepers taking there "cut" from his earnings. But Raven didn't mind he didn't really care about money if he had it it was a bonus and if he didn't he could always get some. He just wanted enough money to be kited out, pay the rent, eat and have some money left over to for Ale and stout; one of Ravens strange loves.
If asked about past adventures Raven will shrug and say that life is an adventure for him. He may tell tales of dramatic bar room brawls', even some of mugging and murder, but Raven is not proud of what he used to do. That is one of the main reasons Raven joined the Black Company. Raven wants to make a relatively honest living and to make himself known throughout the Realms as an honest hero. Other elf's don't get along with Raven terribly well as he has been brought up in a mainly human area and those traits can be seem in his personality. He has very little knowledge of elven ways out-side Waterdeep. He has no memory's of his mother or farther, he has lived on the streets for as long as he can remember.
Raven does most things on whims and doesn't care much for authority, but has had very little run-ins with the watch. Raven rents one of the rooms above The Dripping Dagger, (the one person room on the second floor [a plan can been found in Volo's guide to Waterdeep]) Raven has been wanting to get out of Waterdeep for some time now but hadn't found an attractive approach to the problem, until he saw a sign posted on the corner of Selduth street...
Raven was played by Mikko Eley.
Description: Broad chested, early 20's human
male. Waist long blond hair in Oriental fashion (Topknot), Clean
shaven. His complexion is golden brown, his forehead broad. His sharp
features unmarred by scars. Eyes of piercing Light Blue.
Typical stance and posture: His posture reflects a mountain lion on the hunt, ready to spring. He wears leather jerkins and leather breeches, with leather riding boots, in shades of green and browns. Over these items he wears a vest of purple. with two long swords strapped over his shoulders between his backpack in an X formation.
Background: Born in Hlondeth, in the Turmish region. Azadmir has been a sword for hire for many years, until he gained employment in the service of his present kind master. Always willing to work and cooperate. Not really a talkative person but he does his best when queried. No parents to talk of or any relative that are known, loner in the realms. Very ordinary looking human male. Yet he seems very well trained in using his swords.
Azadmir was played by Richard Teperdjian.
Lethrel is a tall (6' 1") human in his mid twenties. He has a fairly light -- yet sturdy -- build. His dark brown hair, which reaches past the shoulder blade, and his hazel eyes tend to draw attention away from the scar on the left side of his jaw. He moves with a grace which some compare to a stalking cat, though he doesn't have the predatory gleam in his eyes.
The leather armor and soft, knee-high boots under his deep russet traveling cloak match the colors of the forest (greens, browns, and blacks). A simple, undecorated shortsword hangs on his left hip and a large dagger on his right. Both have the simple look of weapons made in bulk during a war. He wears a light backpack under his cloak and a rucksack around his waste.
History: Lethrel was born in a small riverside village on Talerra, his homeworld. His father was a mercenary who ran off to war shortly after birth. The mother didn't tell him much about his father, and Lethrel got it in his head that his dad was a great soldier who went off to fight in the Goblin Wars to defend the people (in reality he got sick and tired of home life and joined his old mercenary unit).
Obviously, he followed in his father's footsteps, and went of to war at the age of 19.
He fought in a few battles (as a 0-level soldier), and was fairly successful. He was so successful, in fact, that he quickly got reassigned to a new division. At first he was very excited, hoping that he could travel around more and have a better chance of finding his father. Instead, his commanding officer miscalculated an opposing force, and led the group into an ambush. More than half of the soldiers died, and Lethrel got badly wounded in the face. This later turned into a scar (though not an ugly one, some say it "adds character"), and a constant reminder of the battle. It was then that he realized that good intelligence of a situation is very important, and so started persueing the life of a military scout.
His scouting career didn't last long because the war ended shortly thereafter, and Lethrel joined an adventuring party. The group travelled around mostly south of his home, in the colder climes. It was then that he got his cloak from a ranger friend who died after a battle with a pack of wolves.
After averting a small war between humanity and the lizard men, Lethrel's adventuring party started to investigate a crashed galleon which was brought down by a pack of wyverns over a jungle.
The helm was cracked, and the ship looked like it's been looted. They found some scraps of star charts and a picture/map of a flying island (the Rock of Bral). While trying to find the man in the orange mask, who was seen near the ship at the time the party arrived, they met a half elf who claimed to be from space. He told them that the galleon dropped him off to gather supplies and was to pick him up later, but never returned. The half-elf explained to them about spelljamming, and that the man in the orange mask was trying to get into space and assemble some "secret weapon". During their months long "chase" of the masked man, they found an abondoned orcish dry dock (the planet was used as a base during the first unhuman war) and were able to salvage/repair a scorpion. (Their home sphere is Cloudspace, coming soon to a web page near you... (: ) They also found out that the masked man had already found a way off planet.
After leaving the sphere, the party took the ship to Spiralspace (where Bral is) to do some *real* repairs to the ship, and to try and stop the man in the orange mask. Once on the Rock, Lethrel left the group to try and put his skills to better use than running around the galaxy trying to stop some evil psychopath (Lethrel never believed in "secret weapons"). He stayed on Bral and tried to get out and explore this "new world" of space travel.
After a *very* short stay on the asteroid city, he was kidnapped and put to work as crew on a small galleon headed for the Realms. When the ship arrived at a city, Lethrel took the opertunity to escape in the middle of the night.
Lethrel doesn't like to rush into potential combat situations withour prior scouting, and brash leaders upset him. His favorite weapon is the dagger, and he can do all sorts of neat tricks with it. He doesn't like to do them in public because he doesn't think he's any good. He carries his "work equipment" (tar makeup, etc.) in his rucksack, and his travelling stuff in his backpack.
Hawkeye was born into the Talloak tribe of
Voadkyn that have been residing in the Star Forest for nearly a
millennia. Trained in usual Voadkyn lore and practice for many years,
he befriended a wood elf named Orlyn. He was taken by her stories of
the outer world, as he called civilisation past the border of the
forest that he has never left. After a few years, wanderlust seized
Orlyn and she left the forest. Hawkeye wanted to go with her, but she
would not take him with her. Feeling rejected, he withdrew from the
company of the other wood elves that lived near the Talloak tribe and
focused on his heritage and the ways of the forest. Nearly a decade
later, she returned an accomplished mage, but grievously wounded by an
orcish arrow through the left eye.
The arrow, cursed by an orcish shaman, resisted all the healing efforts of many a cleric and she decided to return home to live the quiet life. Hawkeye sought her out to teach him the ways of the humans as he was quite intrigued by them.
She began to instruct him in the actions of humans, primarily that of fighting, and to her surprise, he was talented in the way of magic as well. Despite her limited abilities in both the art and of a warrior, due to her permanent wounds, she was able to teach him Common as well as how to wield a sword as well as a few spells. Soon after, she decided to have him seek out an old adventuring friend, by the name of Alazar of Waterdeep. Being a citizen of Waterdeep for many years, he was given a map, a letter of introduction, and a place to stay while he searched for her friend, so that his education in the ways of war, the art, and the world around him could continue. He arrived in Waterdeep just as the winds came from the North and began to usher in the cold weather.
Hawkeye was played by Malcom.
Elden is a human male of 17 years. His hair
is reddish-blond, and is just shy of his shoulders. His face bears a
burn scar on the left side from his deep brown eyes to the side of his
mouth. He stands 6' tall, and has a thin, but muscular 170 pound
frame. He wear studded leather armour for protection, with a leather
apron over it. In this apron he carries a number of pieces of chalk, a
few scraps of paper and a pair of map/scroll cases which hold sheets
of parchment. He bears a quarterstaff and a sling (tucked into the
apron as well). The sling bullets he carries in a large belt pouch at
his side.
Elden Cabot was born in the year 1350. He does not speak of his parentage. Elden was taken to the Twilight Hall to be raised by the priests. Elden turned out to be a fit, young man, and an incredibly quick study. But he was wise enough not to lord that over the other students at the Hall. As he grew older he found that his mind could easily grasp words and pictures. Quickly he was reading everything he could find and spending his days and nights in the stacks with the scrolls, books and tomes. Elden was not given free rein to do as he pleased though. Elden was assigned the task of cooking. This task was one he performed gladly, and he read many a text on the proper mixtures and aromas of foods.
Elden does not speak of his burn scar nor does he speak of his reason for leaving the Twilight Hall. He says only that there was a fire, and much was lost. Elden then went out to gather knowledge and record all that he could, and someday he would return and replace the knowledge that was lost. The priests accepted his decision and bade him farewell. He is a devout Deneir Specialty Priest, some even call him a Glyphscribe, as all of the Deneirian devouts are called. He came to Hill's Edge to aid in the counting and recording the votes at the High Harvesttide Annual Mayoral Election.
He is very suspicious and will only eat meals that he himself has prepared. He does not trust the mercenary mentality, but it was an exciting life with many stories to offer and an easy way to find the knowledge that can not be found in a library. He is now writing histories and stories that he gathers from people. Due to his scars, many people are frightened of him, and due to his suspicious nature, few people are willing to work with him. Elden still tries, but his efforts are not always appreciated.
Elden was killed in battle against the Black Drakes mercenaries and their drow allies.
Elden was played by Thom Jones.
A striking Blue eyed with strong hansom
features of nobility, Vasquez's Blue-Black hair, overly long that is
down to his waist. Sometimes he wears it in a pony tail, at others
times it falls free. Physically, he has a strong and trim body. He
wears a suit of studded leather armour worn over his expensive
tailored clothing. A long hooded cloak covers his armour. One scimitar
is slung over his shoulder and a walking staff in his hand. Overall he
looks as a well made man, 6' - 1" tall with a air of
certainty.
Born in the year of 1346 in the city of Riatavin in the region of Amn. Vasquez Triamth born 4th son to the merchant family of Triamth. Vasquez grew up around the wealth and fortune of the Triamth family, he had tutors and teachers for his education from the early age of 5. As Vasquez grew up he started to get training from various guilds and schools, within the city, one such tutor was Samdusk Sorocine, best musical instrument maker in all Toril.
Vasquez disappeared while taking a cave full of hobgoblins in Chapter 5, Turn 7.
Vasquez was played by Richard Teperdjian.
Erden is a sturdy dwarf, slightly taller than average for his people (his sire claims this is due to human blood in the family...on his mother's side, of course.) He has thick black hair, which he tends to wear long, and dark grey eyes. He usually wears his beard in twin braids which hang nearly to his belt. Aside from the weathered skin of a regular traveller, Erden's only other note-worthy feature is a pair of dark scars across his right cheek...a left-over from a fight which got closer than the dwarf would have preferred.
He prefers dark, earth-toned clothes of sturdy make, to which he adds a well-aged coat of chain and a steel helm when combat seems likely. His crossbow and pipe are always within reach, however. Though he denies it vehemently, he tends to fight when the weapon isn't nearby.
History: Erden was born some time back in the city of Neverwinter to a pair of talented cogsmiths. Despite an interest in such things, Erden's life led him to other pursuits. A very un-dwarven wanderlust has kept him moving up and down the Sword Coast from Neverwinter to Balder's Gate for nearly a century, working as a mercenary and caravan guard. He's become quite accustomed to life on the road, and has rarely found his life wanting for anything.
The one city that's held his interest for more than a winter is Waterdeep. The dwarf settled in the city briefly after the Godswar. He joined an adventuring band, the Company of the Void, at that time and spent several years venturing throughout the North from their base in the City of Splendours.
Following a disastrous journey into the tunnels below the city in which over half the Company was lost, Erden left Waterdeep and returned to life on the road. He briefly joined a band of warriors journeying north to liberate the Citadel of Many Arrows of its orcish tenants, but had to leave the warband and turn back due to misadventure.
Having nowhere else to go, Erden returned to Waterdeep to wait out what he assumed would be a very slow winter.
Erden was played by Matt Reynolds.
Alanna is considered quite beautiful, for
those concerned with physical appearances, but vanity isn't a trait
that she associates much with. That's not to say she doesn't keep
herself looking good, but she doesn't go out her way to state that she
is stunning. However it's her internal strength and confidence that
people really notice, which manifests itself in her raw natural
leadership ability. However her 5'6" frame supports her 132
lb. (60 kgs) very well as she is fit, strong, and extremely
nimble. Her lithe body is not hulking and overtly powerfully built,
but superbly toned with her muscles being well defined, considering
her strength and stamina. Her ash blonde hair is commonly found
brushed out and reaches the upper end of her hips, although she does
tie it back or up when doing her training. Her hazel eyes set off the
features of her face well, to give a sense of serenity about her, a
relaxed and composed but extremely confident presentation. Alanna
isn't adverse to using make up, in minor applications to highlight
parts of her face.
Alanna can be commonly found in breeches and shirt of either blue or purple colour, perhaps even extending to red, as these are her favourite colours. However she's not adverse to toning down when the need arises. She does however carry her twin longswords with her at all times. The exquisite blades are encased in an equally well crafted scabbards attached to a leather belt with a rearing horse as the clasp. However when combat or trouble is about, Alanna wears her Banded mail with accustomed ease.
Alanna was played by Adrian Harris.
Christolf is a half-elven male of 20
years. His light brown hair is worn long and pulled back and tied with
a leather strap under a blue skull cap. His face is finely chiseled,
suggesting his elven heritage, and the slight peak of his ears is not
visible beneath his hair. He stands 5' 10" and weighs about 140
pounds. He does not wear armor, but rather wears a simple blue robe
embroidered with the circle of stars and flame symbol of Mystra. Over
one shoulder he carries a backpack. At his rope belt hangs a sling,
and a staff is carried in his hand. On his left shoulder rests a large
snow white owl with blue eyes.
Christolf was born and raised in Waterdeep. He is the child of adventurers. He follows his mother's footsteps towards magic, though he tries to make up for it to his father by serving in a mercenary force. Christolf received his training originally from a mage by the name of Koraq in Waterdeep, and later at the House of Wonders.
At 19 years old Christolf was initiated at
the annual Straflight ceremony at the House of Wonders. He then joined
an adventuring company known as the Dragon's Fang Company which was
really only 6 fledgeling adventurers seeking a healer and a mage to
add to their company. Christolf joined up.
Christolf and his new adventuring company left Waterdeep, and before they had reached Baldur's Gate he convinced them to revise their plans and form a mercenary company. None of them were more than 25 years of age, and there wasn't a single one among them who knew the first thing about running a mercenary company, but in a matter of one month they managed to assemble a small company of nearly 40 soldiers. They split the 40 into 4 small units, each with two leaders. Christolf was the spellcaster of his unit, and he and the rest of his men reported to a hot headed warrior who reminded Christolf of his father.
Shortly after their formation Christolf's company left to serve in the forces of Zaranda Starr. They never made it through the woods. While Christolf and his men were doing wood gathering for fires, their company was attacked. They ran to aid their company, but as they reached the clearing it was obvious to all that their company was already destroyed. Christolf saw one man strike down the leader of his unit while a squad of dark elves stood nearby to make certain the man was dead. That man's image remained forged in Christolf's mind. Christolf knows nothing of the man, other than what he looks like and the weapons he wields.
Christolf was played by Thom Jones.
Kariith was of medium, yet defined build for a human male of early years. Standing a middling 5'9, and just tipping the scales at 182lbs, one could not mistake the fact that Kariith had a robust physique. Whilst his body was powerfully built it certainly wasn't hulking, but superbly toned with his muscles being well defined. However considering his size, Kariith moved surprisingly well and was quite nimble. Short spiky brown hair set off his deep brown eyes, which were the most distinguishing features in an otherwise ordinary appearance. Found routinely wearing banded mail, over breeches and a loose fitting cotton shirt, Kariith had belted to his hip a longsword and a dagger. In his apparently over-sized boot tops could be seen the pommels of two more daggers. A cape of deep forest green sat upon his shoulders. A long bow and quiver was also present. Of his past, all anyone seemed to get out of him was the fact that he joined up with a mercenary band to fight for the new Queen of Tethyr. Kariith was killed fighting the drow in the Mir forest ambush the Guard prepared.
Kariith was played by Adrian Harris
Valandur is strong and lean. He has endearing blue eyes and light brown hair. He wears a long sword on his left hip, a sheathed dagger strapped horizontally to the back of his black leather belt, a brace of darts on that same belt, a Mulhorandi spear on his back, as well as a long bow and quiver. Beneath his grey cloak can be seen studded leather armour. Completing his attire is a matching set of black breeches and riding boots. Valandur recently joined the company, having been reunited with Jared at the Way Inn. It is difficult to place where Valandur grew up, as he has no accent whatsoever. He briefly mentioned to Hathron some previous affiliation with the Call of Arms Company.
Valandur was played by Wesley Wilcox.
Alazar is a slender moon elf, he
is quite slender and stands just under 6' - tall for an elf. With his
silver hair and amber eyes he gives an ethereal appearance to
humans. He moves with innate grace, lightly stepping across the
ground. He wears no armour and has a finely crafted longsword is
sheathed at his hip. A short bow and quiver is strapped to his
pack.
Alazar was born of two elven adventurers who have semi-retired in Waterdeep. His father is a powerful wizard, and his mother a skilled warrior. With parents such as these it is little wonder that their son would follow in their footsteps, learning the skills of both the sword and the spell.
He is a veteran adventurer who roamed the Sword Coast and the North with the Company of the Drinking Dragon (a rather fun loving band, comprised mainly of humans).
Most of the company was slain a few years ago when overrun by an army of orcs while defending an elven village. The survivors dissolved the company soon after.
Alazar enjoys the fun loving and chaotic humans, but as a consequence of the differing lifespan, forms few close friendships to avoid watching them grow old before his eyes. As a result of his fascination with the humans, and growing up in the city of Waterdeep, Alazar has had little contact with the wider elven community.
Alazar has spent the last few years living in Waterdeep off the funds gained while adventuring. The lack of excitement has given him itchy feet, not to mention that fact his coins are starting to run out. The notice looking for mercenary officers aroused his curiosity enough to apply.
Life in a mercenary company is not all he has envisioned. Being responsible for the lives of the twenty men under his command is enough to give him an ulcer. At least he has the aid of his sergeants who get everything done, and his division is made up of fairly sensible men. Even if at the start they were unable to hit the side of a barn with their bows, and fell of their horses every few miles.
Alazar respects most of the officers he has served with since they left Waterdeep, he still has some reservations and suspicions about Helix. And he has a very low opinion of Bilk.
He has yet to form an opinion
about the new officers, though the way they carry themselves shows
that they may not have the companies best interests at heart.
Alazar's familiar Caldazar has blood red feather's, and magnificent talons and an uncanny intelligence shining in brilliant blue eyes.
Alazar was played by Ian Bowley.
When the Zhents invaded Deganwy, Trayen was 7 years old. he watched his father get killed by some orcs while he was protecting his wife and two kids. His mother was taken away by the human officer that was leading the orcs, and he has never found out if she still lives or not. His baby sister was killed (she was only 6 months old or so) when she started crying from all the noise and confusion, and orcs are not known for there motherly ways. They put Trayen in shackles and took him away to sell into slavery. Instead of being sold, however, Trayen was added to the work force at Llorkh. He spent the next four years as a stable boy on the edges of the Southwood in a small Zhent timber camp. The timber was being cut for fortifications around Llorkh.
Finally, a fellow slave by the name of Theral seized a chance to get away from the slave farm and decided to take Trayen with him. Trayen later found out that Theral was a follower of Mielikki, and pitied the poor boy. He also seen Trayen had a knack for handling horses and thought it would be good for the child to be raised with the tenants of Mielikki's belief instilled into him. So they ran, not knowing where to run or what to do. But at least they escaped. Eventually they made there way deep into the Southwood where they hid from the Zhents and orcs, trying the best they can, just to survive. Eventually they found an abandoned cabin, where they fixed it up and made it habitable.
So Theral trained the young Trayen to be a "Needle". training him in the art of tracking, surviving in the wilderness, the uses of a rope, and the teachings of Mielikki. And they got to know each other, the relationship becoming an almost father-son one. So they lived in that style for almost six years. Occasionally going to the nearby town to trade crop or furs that they had for some supplies they needed. The nearest town they were safe in was Loudwater. Trayen and Theral were introduced to Bran Ravenswing, Prince of Deganwy, by Kalahar Twohands. Both quickly joined his small group of spies, watching and counting Zhent numbers from afar, stealthily stalking back into Deganwy to discover this or that secret, or to see if this or that orc tribe had really allied itself with the Zhents. Though thee trips were always dangerous, the two were always cautious and avoided any altercations with the Zhents.
Then one day, while he was out hunting for some food, he noticed smoke. Smoke from the area of the cabin. Running back, he found that the Zhents (he thinks they were Zhents) had somehow found the cabin and killed Theral and destroyed the cabin. (As it was the winter time, and snowing, there was no tracks for him to follow). Trayen was devastated. Everyone he has loved was killed by the Zhents. So he buried Theral and mourned for him.
Trayen travelled back to Loudwater, where he found Bran had chosen that year as the time to strike. He has since travelled about the North with Bran and his allies, training for battle with the other guerillas Bran hired, and waiting for the merc groups to arrive.
Trayen was played by Pat.
